Knight Transportation Orders Fleet-Wide Deployment of Trailer Management Systems From Asset Intelligence

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 17, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Asset Intelligence, a leading provider of transportation asset management solutions and a subsidiary of I.D. Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDSY), today announced that Knight Transportation, Inc. (NYSE:KNX), one of North America's largest truckload service providers, is expanding its deployment of VeriWise™ trailer management solutions across its entire trailer fleet. Knight will equip its dry vans and refrigerated trailers with a combination of VeriWise products, including VeriWise Track & Trace, VeriWise Dry Van with cargo sensing, and VeriWise Reefer.

VeriWise asset tracking systems combine sensor, wireless, and web technologies to provide real-time visibility of trailers and their cargo. The system automatically identifies, analyzes, and responds to critical transportation issues to improve the efficiency and security of logistics operations.

"To maintain Knight's high standards for lean operations and superior customer service, we depend on real-time visibility of our cargo-carrying assets," said Steve Grover, Knight's Vice President of Corporate Facilities and Communications.  "After an extensive evaluation, we chose to expand our use of VeriWise wireless asset management solutions because they precisely meet the diverse requirements of our different asset types, and they deliver the most effective, reliable results. In addition, Asset Intelligence has proven to be an invaluable partner to Knight, working closely with us over many years to optimize our fleet performance.

"Asset Intelligence was also the only provider able to deliver information seamlessly across every type of trailer in our fleet and, at the same time, integrate a user-friendly web portal with both our core dispatch application and our employees' peripheral devices, like smart phones and tablet PCs. These unique capabilities provide enhanced fleet visibility, which can improve equipment utilization."

"Knight has been a key Asset Intelligence customer and partner for many years, helping our solutions stay at the cutting edge of technical innovation," said Darryl Miller, Chief Operating Officer of I.D. Systems. "It is gratifying that our VeriWise technology continues to drive significant operating efficiencies for Knight and provide management with streamlined, real-time access to mission-critical asset information. We look forward to completing this enterprise roll-out of VeriWise solutions across Knight's entire trailer fleet."

About VeriWise™ Solutions

VeriWise Dry Van is an advanced trailer monitoring system with patented full-length cargo detection sensors and solar charging technology. The system reports reliable, uninterrupted trailer location and loaded/ unloaded status—even if the trailer is disconnected from tractor power for an extended period—resulting in faster trailer turns, increased asset utilization, improved cargo security, and optimal fleet efficiency.
